Business Spotlight: Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

May 11th-17th is National Nursing Home Week, and the theme for long-term care facilities nationwide during this week is “Love is Ageless.”
Nothing could be closer to the truth at Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on the Cerulean Road in Cadiz. At Shady Lawn, their motto every day is “What Matters Most.” When it comes to the long-term, and even short-term rehabilitative care, the staff at Shady Lawn know that “what matters most” to you, and to them, is the professional, compassionate care of your loved one.
Shady Lawn Administrator Tammy Workman says that is why they grade their services based on six “Cornerstones of Care,” responsiveness, integrity, compassion, dignity, pride and respect.
Shady Lawn patient Roy Williams experienced all six of the “cornerstones” first-hand during his rehab stay. Williams said, “I am so blessed to have had such a fine stay at your facility—everyone from housekeeping, dietary and nursing, to the administration and therapy. May God continue to bless these people in their service.”
Fifty-year-old Richard Jackson had similar praise. According to Jackson, a bile-duct cancer survivor, Shady Lawn’s Occupational and Physical Therapy staff has changed his life. He came to Shady Lawn in February, following a painful surgery to remove his gall bladder, part of his bile duct and some of his liver. He was unable to do anything on his own, even walk, get out of bed or dress himself.
Now, Richard can walk unassisted and can do most everything for himself, again. Jackson said, “The nurses and staff here are super nice, and would do anything to help me and meet my needs.”
Jackson’s Physical Therapist, Connie Thomas, said his care will continue even after he goes home this week. Thomas said, “We have an excellent team that focuses on the whole patient to address all of their problems. When a patient like Richard prepares to go home, we perform a home evaluation to pre-determine what his obstacles for mobility may be and how we can prepare him for that before he gets there.”
Go by and see the progress for yourself, and congratulate Tammy and the staff on the “Excellent” results they recently received on the facility’s Quality Survey from the State Office of Inspector General. Visit Shady Lawn this Friday for the Murray-Calloway County Health Express from 9am to 2pm, get your blood pressure checked and an osteoporosis screening, free.
