1973 was a huge year for Elton John.  Although he had several hits in the early 70's, 1973 was magical as "Crocodile Rock" hit #1, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Candle In The Wind" won him worldwide fame!  The Eagles rolled out "Desperado".  Billy Joel gave us "Piano Man".  Marvin Gaye wowed us with "Let's Get It On".  Real rock and roll fans were totally infatuated with Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird".  Oh, what a year 1973 was for rock and roll!

Important Fact:  Pink Floyd released "Dark Side of the Moon".  That album remained on Billboard's album charts for 741 weeks (15 � years).  It beat Johnny Mathis' record of  490 weeks with his Greatest Hits album.

The Rolling Stone named 500 of the greatest songs of all time.  18 songs made the cut in 1973!
