By 1978, the disco era was swingin. The release of Saturday Night Live at the end of 1977 led to the sale of over ten million copies of the soundtrack album, featuring songs by the Bee Gees, Kool and the Gang, K.C. and the Sunshine bank, and more. The album was the largest selling album of all-time until Michael Jackson's Thriller beat it out six years later. The movie soundtrack from Grease held the top spot for 12 consecutive weeks in 1978, and America fell in love with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.
