"During my two years as editor of the Cadiz Record (1997-99), Jim was one of the many great folks from Cadiz and Trigg County who welcomed me and my family to the community. I always enjoyed sitting and talking with Jim whether we were discussing city business or just chatting about life in general. When we came back to the Ham Festival a couple of years ago, Jim was in his music shop warming up with his group when he saw me walking down the sidewalk. He stopped what he was doing and waved me into his store to ask how I was doing in my job at WKU and how my family was doing. Cadiz and Trigg County are filled with wonderful people like Jim Ricks. I know he'll be missed in the community."
