Christian County Sheriff, Livy Leavell, Jr., challenged those on hand for the Hopkinsville Fraternal Order of Police Annual Memorial to say thanks to those who put themselves in danger each day to ensure our safety. Welcome Home Ceremony
More than 1,400 Vietnam Veterans from across the country gathered at Fort Campbell Army Airfield Sunday to participate in a true welcome home more than 30 years in the making. Family and friends of the veterans were joined by community members for what can only be described as a momentous occasion, which started with a 2 and a half minute standing ovation for the veterans. The post held three welcome home ceremonies due to the overwhelming response from former soldiers.

Cundiff Farms Wheat Harvest
Trigg County Farmer Ben Cundiff says this year’s wheat harvest has been better than expected in some areas on the farm, with other areas reporting some damage due to hail. Cundiff expected the harvest to be complete by last weekend, with double-crop soybean planting to be finished shortly after.

Trigg County Justice Center
Codell Construction Site Manager David Welker says the new Trigg County Justice Center is still on track to be completed in late July. 50 to 60 people are working inside the new building on a daily basis to install crown molding, cabinetry, floor tile, electronic wiring, windows and more. Little River Days 2009
Several changes were implemented for the 2009 Little River Days Festival held in downtown Hopkinsville. It was expanded to 3 full days of free entertainment, food, and affordable carnival rides. The Weight Loss Challenge was sponsored by Trigg County Hospital, Hancock's Neighborhood Market, Curves of Cadiz and WKDZ/WHVO. The Biggest Loser Male was Doug Gloyd of the TCHS FatCats team at 28 lbs. The Biggest Loser Female was Kimberly Spann of the MSU Hopkinsville Team 5 at 27.8 lbs (not pictured). 2008 Pump Up the Volume!
Western Ky Regional Blood Center has a great opening day for their Pump Up the Volume campaign. Drew Wilson's son was the first 16 year old to give blood after the new law signed July 15 allowed 16 year olds to give blood with parental consent. LONE OAK HOUSE RIBBON CUTTING 2008
Ever wanted to see a "Living Museum"? Did you eat at the restaurant "Crockets"? Have you seen Lone Oak in the last 6 years?
These were the questions Hopkinsville Historian William Turner asked the crowd that had gathered for the museum's ribbon cutting on June 25, 2008. Rachel Longworth took the photographs that you see here of what it looks like today. Notice that the top level windows are different from the lower level; according to the current owner, Jim Corsey, the top level rooms were built at a later date. Currently you can view the house by appoitment only and a website that chronicles the history of Lone Oak is forthcoming.

Some 200 people helped Pennyroyal HOSPICE celebrate their new location with a ribbon-cutting Monday, April 28th. Alhambra Theater Renovation and Ribbon Cutting
Alhambra Theater had its ribbon cutting ceremony today at 11 am. Those that were present were given a rare treat of touring the newly renovated parts, including the restrooms. The history behind the theater, celebrating 80 years this year, can be seen inside the theater itself where restoration is still taking place. The theater seats 788 people including the fully functional balcony and is handicap accessible. It is hard to take pictures that accurately describe this charming Hopkinsville landmark, but Alan Watts and Rachel Longworth bring you exclusive photos from the events. Currahee VIP Day at WKDZ/WHVO
WKDZ/WHVO welcomed officers from the Currahee in our studios February 29th as part of our Afghanistan VIP Day. Officers were interviewed on our station as part of their final training before deploying to Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, the primary means of communication is radio. We were honored to be part of their training.

Currahees Signify End of Combat Preparation
The 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, cased its colors February 28th to symbolize the end of their combat preparation and the beginning of their rendezvous with destiny. Nearly 3,800 soldiers are making final preparations to deploy to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. WKDZ/WHVO's Mike Crowder was there and shares these photos.

Thunderstoms and Tornados Strike Listening Area
It appeared to be a beautiful day, but the National Weather Service and Emergency Management continued to warn us that this is not normal weather for February. By 6pm, weather warnings and alerts were firing, giving listeners a "heads up" that trouble was on the way. After school activities were cancelled, and then it hit. A Day in the Life of a Firefighter by Stuart Wilson
Stuart Wilson is an avid digital photographer, and he's starting the hobby early in life. He took 257 pictures while "Shadowing" the Hopkinsville Fire Department. The station shots were taken at Station #1 on West 1st Street. Stuart and his dad, Drew Wilson were also invited to observe the crews from stations 2 and 4 as they trained for vehicle extrication.

Volunteer Mission Group
Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 4925 Dawson Springs Road, Hopkinsville is building a new 10,000 square foot worship center with the help of volunteer mission groups from all over the United States. The first group - The Carpenters for Christ, based out of Attala, Alabama, began our project on June 8, 2010.
