currently heard here on the Boomer Radio Network (WHVO 96.5 FM & 1480 AM, WKDZ 100.9 FM & 1110 AM). He is co-host of Hoptown This Morning, along with veteran radio news anchor, Ann Petrie.
With over 25 years in radio management and almost 30 years as a radio personality, Hollywood began his career while still in high school in order to help his family financially. After realizing he had found his career path, he attended Volunteer State to pursue a degree in broadcast communications and to stay near his family.
Nashville, TN has been home for much of his career as he specialized in developing new stations in the market and worked with a station who was recipient of multiple Station of the Year awards from both the Academy of Country Music and The Country Music Association.
The nickname came after a coworker overheard a comment by a listener regarding his attire and sense of style. Immediately, he was tagged with the nickname, Hollywood.
With a warm, clean sense of humor, Hollywood has won audiences over across the country, from his native Nashville to Cookeville, TN, across southern Kentucky, central Florida and as far away as New Mexico. Previously, his top-rated morning show in New Mexico owned the top ratings share in America among all rated markets.
Hollywood was awarded Buzz Magazine’s Personality of the Year in 1999 and was a finalist multiple times in the Tennessean Radio Personality of The Year Award. His most coveted award came from a chapter of the American Red Cross when he was recognized as their Person of the Year for his on-air fund raising efforts after the tragic events of September 11th, 2001.
Football is a year round interest for Hollywood, from the NFL Draft to the final play of the Super Bowl.
Hollywood entered radio syndication as host and creator of The Fantasy Edge, the longest running fantasy football radio show in America. The idea for the show came a year after his best friend introduced him to fantasy football. The show combines two loves, radio and football; where his friends and guests talk fantasy football strategy and fun. Hollywood prides himself on being an avid football fan.
The Wix family consists of Jeff, his wife, Michelle, his children, Brittany, Lindsey, and Landon. Additionally, he is a member of Cornerstone Church in Nashville.
To summarize his career, it’s about touching people’s lives… and touchdowns.
