Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist Commission

The dust is settled and the new Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Visitors Center is ready for business. The remodeled facility will provide information and a warm Kentucky smile for the many travelers that stop by for area information.

The Tourist Commission Board decided early last year to proceed with a renovation and remodel of the I-24 location of the Tourism Visitors Center. Due to the traffic and daily walk-in visitors it was decided to consolidate operations.

The renovation added upgrades to the facility that would help with information distribution, access, and also a more efficient operation of the services provided.

A new ramp has been installed at the entrance area with handrails to make it easier to enter for those that would have trouble with steps. An enclosed vestibule will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week which will have information available to visitors even when the office area is not open.

Inside the Visitors Center renovations were made to restrooms and hallways to meet the American with Disabilities Act to provide easier movement throughout the building. New areas of the building include a reception area, an exhibit/display room, conference room, director’s office, break-room, storage room, and utility area.

Executive Director Bill Stevens said “this will be a facility the entire community will be proud of and will make a great first impression for Cadiz and Trigg County”. “We are fortunate to have two great ambassadors for the county working here, Wanda Lisch has great people skills and truly cares for needs of our visitors, and we also have the great historian Kelsie Calhoun who can tell you all about people, places and a story or two”.

The Tourist Visitors Center also is the main physical contact point for the Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce. We provide local maps, phonebooks, relocation packets and general information on our wonderful area and mail out inquiry packets throughout the United States.

The Tourist Commission works to promote our area and what activities are available; we always welcome information from our businesses, clubs and organizations, and individuals to help spread the word about Cadiz and Trigg County.

“I must thank Judge Executive Stan Humphries and Magistrates, Mayor Lyn Bailey and the City Council, for their continued support of the Tourism Industry in the County. The vision of the current and past Board Members of the Tourist Commission has been insightful and positive to work toward being a primary travel destination” Stevens said.
